VicSRC Ambassadors
Do you want to find your student voice, create change with students from across Victoria and represent your peers through VicSRC? Then VicSRC Ambassadors is for you!
VicSRC Ambassadors are Victorian students in years 6-10 who work together to create real, student-led change in their schools and communities.
Applications for Semester 1 2022 have now closed.

What's changed in 2022
The 2022 VicSRC Ambassadors program will run in two parts. Ambassadors will join for the first semester of the year, and then have the option to stay on for the second semester.
If spots are available, applications to become an Ambassador for Semester 2 will open in June.
Semester 1
(March – June)
Work with an Action Team to create student-led change in your school based on the 2021 Congress priorities.
Semester 2(optional)
(July – November)
Support VicSRC to hear from students in the lead up to Congress 2022 in Term 3. After Congress, be part of the team that finalises VicSRC's Action Plans for the next year.
What your time as an Ambassador will look like in Semester 1
- Attend regular meetings with all VicSRC Ambassadors.
- Work with an Action Team of Ambassadors to plan and implement actions in your school on your chosen issue from the VicSRC Advocacy Platform.
- Learn about student voice, advocacy and how to create change!
- Represent VicSRC at your school.
- Regularly report back to VicSRC on how your projects are going.
- Work, collaborate and communicate with fellow Ambassadors and other VicSRC students and staff. This includes reading and replying to emails.
- Represent VicSRC and students at different education events throughout the year (optional).
Meeting dates in Semester 1
In-person meetings are on Saturdays or in school holidays. They will be held in Melbourne CBD. VicSRC will cover travel costs for regional and rural students. There will also be an online catch-up meeting for those who can't attend in person.

I highly suggest VicSRC Ambassadors to any students who want to have their voice heard and want to improve their student voice actions. I'm glad I was a part of this program, and I'm going to miss it and everyone involved.

That's great, you've come to the right spot! VicSRC Ambassadors is perfect for students who are new to student voice. We'll help you learn along the way.
Absolutely! We're committed to making the Ambassadors program as accessible as possible. VicSRC will reimburse travel costs for regional and rural students to attend meetings or events in Melbourne. There will also be an option for a catch-up meeting online for those who can't attend a meeting in person.
We ask Ambassadors to commit 1-2 hours per week to do their Ambassadors work. This might be attending meetings, planning actions, talking to people at your school, or reporting back to VicSRC about what's happening!
We have realised that students in year 11 and 12 are often really busy and don't have as much time to commit to their role as a VicSRC Ambassador. Students in years 6-10 want more opportunities to learn about student voice and have their voices heard in education!
Students in years 11 and 12 are encouraged to look out for other opportunities to be involved through the VicSRC Student Community.

Action Teams are small groups of Ambassadors who work together on one of VicSRC's Advocacy Priorities: consent education, student-teacher relationships, family and community engagement, teaching and learning, inclusion, P-10 assessment, senior secondary, and school timetabling and structure. There will be around 5-6 Ambassadors in each Action Team. Action Teams will meet outside of Ambassadors meetings, support each other, plan together and celebrate together!
VicSRC is focused on creating change in the education system. Ambassadors will work on issues that are directly related to school and education.
Each Ambassador will choose to be part of an Action Team based on VicSRC's current Advocacy Priorities:
- consent education,
- student-teacher relationships,
- family and community engagement,
- teaching and learning,
- inclusion,
- P-10 assessment,
- senior secondary, and
- school timetabling and structure.
These are broad topics that cover many aspects of education! These priorities were identified by students through Congress 2021, so we know that they are important issues to many students across Victoria.
We know that young people are passionate about many things! If you are keen to work on something that is not linked to Victorian education – for example, climate change – then we suggest you look for an organisation that works specifically on that issue.
